Skyline Soaring Club
Skyline Soaring Club
Based at Front Royal-Warren County Airport (KFRR), we are a community of aviators dedicated to the sport of soaring. With over 1,500 flights conducted annually, we provide a vibrant environment for pilots to hone their skills in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley.
📊 Our Digital Flight Deck
Every flight at Skyline tells a story. We use WeGlide to track our cross-country progress, analyze flight traces, and compete in the global soaring leagues.
By logging our flights, we don't just record statistics; we share knowledge, celebrate personal bests, and showcase the incredible soaring potential of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

🎓 World-Class Training Tracking
Our student pilots benefit from the Manage2Soar training system—a professional-grade platform used to track syllabus progress, flight logs, and instructor endorsements in real-time. Whether you are a beginner or adding a rating, your progress is transparent, digital, and data-driven.

Front Royal is uniquely situated to offer pilots three distinct ways to climb.
Thermal
Columns of rising warm air triggered by the sun hitting the valley floor. The classic way to stay up on a summer afternoon.
Ridge
Winds hitting the Blue Ridge Mountains are forced upward, allowing us to surf the "Massanutten" and the "Front Royal Ridge" for miles.
Mountain Wave
Powerful atmospheric oscillations that can carry gliders into the smooth, thin air of the flight levels (FL180).
